GHALLANAI: As many as 56 cyclists from all over Pakistan participated in the first ever ‘Tour de Mohmand’ cycle race organised by the Pakistan Cycle Federation (PCF) at the Pak-Afghan border area in Mohmand Agency on Saturday.
The Water and Power Development Authority’s cyclist, Muhammad Sabir, won the 66-kilometre two-way loop race while Sui Northern Gas Private Limited’s Muhammad Awais Khan stood second. Cyclist Muhammad Sabir completed his rounds in one hour and 13 minutes. Balochistan’s cyclist Zameer Ahmad remained third in the race. The 66-km ‘Tour de Mohmand’ cycle race started from the sports ground in Atta Bazar of the Baizai sub-division at the Pak-Afghan border and ended back at the starting point.
Political Agent Mohmand Agency, Mehmood Aslam Wazir, Wing Commander Lt Col Faisal Azhar Rana, Lt Col Imtiaz Khan, PCF Secretary Syed Azhar Ali Shah, Punjab Cycle Federation president Shahzada Butt and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cycling Association President Nisar Ahmad were present on the occasion.
Tribespeople demanded of the government to organise such events frequently in the future.
