QUETTA: leader of the opposition in Senate and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) senior leader Senator Aitzaz Ahsan said that the Interior Ministry had totally failed, in light of the recent attacks in Quetta.
He was talking to the journalists here on Thursday. Flanked by Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Khursheed Shah, Aitzaz said that the National Action Plan (NAP) had been made with the purpose that its 20 points would be implemented. He said that the Interior Ministry had failed due to the recent terrorist attacks.
He said, “Four days ago, a bomb blast took place and a blast took place even today,” he said. “The Interior Ministry has failed totally.” He added that the NAP was not being implemented.
He said that the Sindh government was undertaking the treatment of the injured who were transferred to Karachi. He also urged the Bar Association to set up a fund for the education and health of the children of those who had been killed in the Quetta bombings.
He said that he would also try to collect as much funds as he can for the trust.
Khursheed Shah also spoke to the journalists and said that the recent spate of terrorism in Quetta reflected the failure of the security agencies.
He said that if the NAP would have been implemented, then such attacks would not take place. “It does not matter whether the government is weak or not. The state should not be weak,” he said. “If the state becomes weak, then so does its institutions.”
